cPicture is updated to version 1.8.1 to include a fast directory search (F6).
This new feature is for finding folders on your computer without any database.

For example: Enter a search text like a date / name (separated by a space) to find
the matching folder. Double click on the folder to open the content immediately.
Like a google search, you can exclude text by adding a minus symbol in front of the text
or use quotes for exact match.

The free function plugin "HDR" for cPicture can combine several pictures taking at different exposure levels using the "enfuse" program.
No complicated settings and fully automated. Unlike different complicated HDR software, you only select the pictures and the plugin is doing the rest.

Example:
In the following example the first picture is correctly exposed for the interior, but leaves the bright window areas over exposed.
The second picture is correctly exposed for the window area but leaves the interior under exposed.

The function plugin "HDR" combines the two pictures to create a single picture with correctly exposed areas:

Select the individual pictures with the different exposure levels:
Select the function plugin "HDR" from the menu in cPicture:
Confirm the settings and click "OK":
The output of "enfuse" is displayed in the console window:

Click "OK" to close the window.

Are your backups without errors?
Have you ever checked your backups?
You have all your pictures on a CD/DVD or backup drive, but how do you make sure they are actually OK and not broken? Quite often a picture file gets broken because of a faulty drive or storage media and maybe you keep making backups of these broken pictures.

One solution is to view all pictures in fullscreen and check each one. But there is a better way.

The steps are very easy:
Instead of first selecting the pictures, you can now specify the folders/drives directly.

Step 1:

Select "Check pictures" from the start menu.

Step 2:

By default, the current folder is pre-selected. Change if necessary.

Step 3:

The Picture check is launched as a task and progress is displayed in the task section.

Step 4:

Once the check finish, a dialog is display with the error result or an OK message.

To revert the template to the default, simply remove the template in the settings and click "OK".

A new copy/cut/paste option is added (as right click menu entries and as shortcuts CTRL+C/X/V) to copy/cut and paste image selections. This makes managing images even more easier: Select you favorite images, CTRL+C, select a new folder and CTRL+V!

The second addition for this update is a new menu entry for the load/save of EXIF. This makes the transfer of EXIF simpler. In the previous version this was only possible in the picture data view.

Search:

The new search function in the toolbar is for an easy search of the current picture folder and all sub folders for picture names and EXIF/IPTC/XMP comments. The search can be cancelled anytime with the ESC key.
You can enter more than one search term separated by a space.
For example: vacation 2004
lists all pictures with 'vacation' and '2004' in the file name or in the picture comment.

Regular expressions can also be entered in the form 'r=regexpr'.
For example, to search for all pictures with a date format in the file name, you can use:
r=(19|20)\d\d[- /.](0[1-9]|1[012])[- /.](0[1-9]|[12][0-9]|3[01])

You also can enter a folder to change to that folder. Enter a full path to a picture to change to the picture folder and select the picture as the current one.

Loss less cropping:

Added two small buttons next to the OK/Cancel button for switching on/off the aspect ratio and to rotate the crop rectangle when cropping in full screen.

Plug-in interface update:

The plug-in interface is updated. The current plug-ins on the website are version 2.2/1.1 and won't work with this test version. The updated plug-ins will added soon.

Added dynamic display of the shell view / task list and preview if you move the mouse to the left or top border. This feature was only available for image display and is now available for all display modes!

The W3C validation report lists a wrong usage of the paragraph tag:

The closing img tag is removed and the paragraph tag is replaced by simple breaks:

The validation reports also lists 'required attribute "ALT" not specified'. This warning can be ignored here.
