Function plugin: HDR, combine several pictures taking at different exposure levels

Update:
The plugin http://cpicture.net/en/cpp_hdr.zip is updated with the latest enfuse program from http://panospace.wordpress.com/

The free function plugin "HDR" for cPicture can combine several pictures taking at different exposure levels using the "enfuse" program.
No complicated settings and fully automated. Unlike different complicated HDR software, you only select the pictures and the plugin is doing the rest.

Example:
In the following example the first picture is correctly exposed for the interior, but leaves the bright window areas over exposed.
The second picture is correctly exposed for the window area but leaves the interior under exposed.

The function plugin "HDR" combines the two pictures to create a single picture with correctly exposed areas:

 +     =

To create a combined picture:

  1. Select the individual pictures with the different exposure levels:

  2. Select the function plugin "HDR" from the menu in cPicture:

  3. Confirm the settings and click "OK":

  4. The output of "enfuse" is displayed in the console window:

Click "OK" to close the window.
The combined picture is created and will be displayed in cPicture as a new picture.

Installation:

Download the plugin from http://cpicture.net/en/cpp_hdr.zip
and unpack the cpp_hdr.dll and the enfuse.exe in the same folder where you copied cPicture.exe.

cPicture 1.7.2.5

cPicture is updated to include a re-date function with different time stamps.
Set a start date and an optional time step (time difference between the pictures) to set new file dates for the pictures:

This is useful for devices reading and sorting files by file date instead of the file name.

cPicture 1.7.2.3

cPicture is updated to include an updated Picture Check (see http://jurgene.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!ECF9470581AA39EA!205.entry)

Are your backups without errors?
Have you ever checked your backups?

You have all your pictures on a CD/DVD or backup drive, but how do you make sure they are actually OK and not broken? Quite often a picture file gets broken because of a faulty drive or storage media and maybe you keep making backups of these broken pictures.

One solution is to view all pictures in fullscreen and check each one. But there is a better way.

The steps are very easy:
Instead of first selecting the pictures, you can now specify the folders/drives directly.

Step 1:
Select "Check pictures" from the start menu.

Step 2:
By default, the current folder is pre-selected. Change if necessary.

Step 3:
The Picture check is launched as a task and progress is displayed in the task section.

Step 4:
Once the check finish, a dialog is display with the error result or an OK message.

Nokton 58mm F1.4 SL II

In November 2007, Cosina/Voigtländer announced the Ultron 40mm F2 SL II and
the Nokton 58mm F1.4 SL II for Nikon and Pentax systems.
http://www.cosina.co.jp/seihin/voigt/v-lens/sl2/58sl2/index.html

The Nokton 58mm F1.4 SL II for Nikon arrived!

The lens is all metal with manual focus and feels very solid.

The Nokton is a CPU lens and meters on all Nikon DSLR.
The aperture ring needs to be set to f/16 (orange).

All samples are shot with f/1.4:

Unlike the Nikkor f/1.4 50mm, at f/1.4 the Nokton delivers excellent results.
The depth of field is then very shallow of course and can be difficult to set.
In the viewfinder, a green dot is displayed for subjects in focus in the center frame
(The AF mode is set to Single Area [.]).

f/1.6 1/40s (handheld)

1:1 crop lower-left corner

cPicture is updated to version 1.7.2 to fix the display problem for the map geotagging view with Firefox.

December 07

cPicture 1.7.1

cPicture is updated to version 1.7.1.
Note:
A change in the EXIF template parser required a change for the modified/created date placeholder from %dm/%dc to %um/%uc.
In order to display the template with the new EXIF/image data, the placeholders %dm and %dc need to be changed to %um and %uc in case they were used.

To revert the template to the default, simply remove the template in the settings and click "OK".

The updated language versions will follow shortly.
